New Bauchi CP vows to protect vulnerable residents against oppression
The newly posted Commissioner of Police to Bauchi State Command, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has vowed to uphold the Nigeria Police objective, which includes, protection of the innocent against deception, the protection of the weak against oppression and intimidation.
Omolori said this in his maiden press briefing shortly after assuming office, stating that he would ensure the peaceful coexistence of all citizens in the state while guarding against violence and disorder.
He added he would ensure his operatives respect all citizens’ constitutional rights, guaranteeing their liberty, equality, and justice.
According to him, the objectives of modern policing and crime control, in line with global best practice, would be observed to contribute to reinforcing trust and confidence among the populace.
“These core values and general objectives constitute our collective and individual responsibilities to ensure law and order throughout the process, which will ensure that crime control is brought to force to reduce it to the barest minimum while pursuing it within the ambit of the law.
“Our strategy would generally be driven by integrated intelligence-led community policing, which transcends simple law enforcement to embrace human security and development services achievable through required expertise and holistic community support. Our policing shall be driven by professional knowledge and guided by intelligence at strategic, operational, and tactical levels. Our modus operandi will, therefore, be proactive, preventive, and, in some cases, reactive.”
He said that under his command, the Police would integrate the elements of key modern crime control and conflict management strategies into our policing efforts.
These methods are to be deliberately directed at prolific offenders and hot spots, policing and managing major public gatherings and crime-prone events within dedicated community partnership systems employing intelligence-led patrol systems.
