Fort Valley State University welcomes Brandon Britt as the next head coach of the men’s basketball team, ushering in a new chapter for Wildcat basketball. Coach Britt brings a proven track record of transforming programs and developing student-athletes on and off the court. He most recently served as assistant men’s basketball coach and co-recruiting coordinator at Edward Waters University (EWU), where he led the men’s basketball elite camps and implemented a comprehensive training program that elevated both the physical performance and technical skill sets of his players. His strategic recruiting efforts helped EWU achieve several historic milestones, including the program’s first NCAA Division II winning record, its first victories against Sunshine State Conference opponents and a team GPA of 3.4. “Coach Britt’s reputation for building winning programs, while staying deeply committed to the academic and personal growth of his players, aligns perfectly with our vision at Fort Valley State,” said Daphnie Johnson, FVSU Director of Athletics. “We are excited for the energy, discipline and leadership he will bring to Wildcat Nation.” Prior to EWU, Britt led the boys’ basketball program at Western Kentucky High School from 2018 to 2023. Taking over a team that had finished 4-22 the previous season, he transformed it into a regional powerhouse with an 83-56 overall record. Under his leadership, the team reached the regional tournament for the first time in a decade, broke the school’s single season win record with 23 victories and earned a No. 2 state ranking in 2022. In 2019, Britt led the 14U boys AAU team to a 58-4 record, earning the top ranking in Kentucky. He also began his collegiate coaching journey as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Indiana University Southeast, helping the team to a conference championship, an NAIA national tournament appearance and mentoring four NAIA All-Americans. Britt earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Indiana University Southeast in 2015 and later completed a master’s degree in teaching from the University of the Cumberlands.
