Natasha Akpoti Granted N50m Bail After Arraignment for Allegedly Defaming Akpabio, Yahaya Bello
Justice Chizoba Orji of the FCT High Court has granted Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan bail in the amount of N50 million.
The Kogi Central Senator pleaded not guilty to three-count charge bordering on alleged defamatory comments she made on national television where she claimed former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello and the Senate President Godswill Akpabio are plotting her assassination.
The Kogi Central Senator was arraigned before Justice Chizoba Orji on 3-count charge and pleaded not guilty on all counts.
In admitting the Federal lawmaker to bail, the trial judge also listed one surety who must be a resident of the FCT as part of the condition for bail.
This case against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan is hinged on the comments she made on a live television broadcast on April 3 and a record of a private phone conversation on March 27, 2025 where the alleged assassination plot was mentioned.
Meanwhile, Justice Chizoba Orji has fixed 23 September for the start of trial.
