I was resigned to the idea that my walking shoes would never be cute; slipping on chunky grandpa sneakers, I would remind myself that these are for function, not fashion. But Natalie Portman’s sleek black sneakers just made me rethink that.

Portman, 44, wore Clifton 9 GTX sneakers from Hoka, the comfort-first sneaker brand Kylie Jenner, 27, also wears. While Portman’s shoes still had that classic silhouette and ample cushioning (we’re not compromising on support!), the sleek, all-black design made the athletic sneakers feel shockingly cool—so much that pairing them with her cute denim cut-offs felt completely natural. Immediately, I went to grab her exact sneakers, but learned that they’re nearly sold out. So, I also found five lookalikes that start at just $39.

Hoka’s Clifton 9 GTX sneakers are Portman’s exact shoes. They have moderate cushioning that’s perfect for walking and everyday runs, as well a closed mesh design that makes them weather-resistant. And while sizes are pretty limited at Amazon, they’re still well-stocked at Hoka.

If you’re looking to shop Portman’s look for less, you’ll want to grab Adidas’s Run Falcon 5 sneakers, which are on sale for just $39. This shoe is lightweight and has a breathable mesh design—two features that are going to keep your feet cool this summer.

Sketchers’s Go Run sneakers are another great affordable alternative at just $40. They have a cushiony-yet-breathable insole and chunky silhouette. For anyone obsessed with the dad sneaker trend, these are for you.

My all-time favorite sneakers are New Balances, so I of course added the brand’s black Fresh Foam Arishi sneakers to my wishlist. What sets these apart from similar sneakers is their wider platform for a little more cushioning coverage.

Like Hoka, Brooks is another brand celebrities are loyal to (it’s rare to see Jennifer Garner not wearing its sneakers). On rare sale for $100, the Ghost 16 style is available in that same all-black look, plus it has moderate support and soft cushioning.
