NARPO-GH Denies Link to Lawsuit Against COP Boakye's Police Council Nomination | News Ghana
In an official statement released on Thursday, June 26, 2025, and signed by eight members of its Functional Executive Committee, NARPO-GH explicitly stated that the plaintiff, Henrietta Nana Yaa Simpson, has no affiliation with the association.
According to the official release, Henrietta Nana Yaa Simpson is neither a registered nor a known member of NARPO-GH. The association further clarified that she holds no formal or informal relations with the organization. The statement emphasized that NARPO-GH’s leadership had neither discussed nor authorized any legal action in the association’s name regarding COP Boakye’s nomination.
NARPO-GH described Simpson’s decision to file the lawsuit using its name as entirely unauthorized and misleading. The Executive Committee used the statement to reaffirm its strong support for COP Nathaniel Kofi Boakye (Rtd). It expressed full confidence in his qualifications and expertise to effectively represent the interests of all retired police officers on the Police Council, regardless of their former rank.
The disclaimer was endorsed by prominent figures within NARPO-GH, including its Vice President, COP Richard Safo-Kwarteng (Rtd), and its Secretary, DCOP George Anko-Bil (Rtd). Mrs. Cecilia Ayi-Bonte, President of the National Association of Police Wives Association (NAPWA), was also among the signatories. The association’s position underscores its endorsement of COP Boakye’s nomination amidst the legal challenge initiated by Simpson.
