Ann Ndinda, a resident of Saika Maili Saba, raised the alarm after her daughter, Virginia Nzula, disappeared the day after a neighbour known as Sharon travelled upcountry.

Ndinda told that she suspected that her daughter might have been convinced to tag along without her knowing the consequences.

After weeks of searching for the missing teen in vain, she saw the former neighbour post a photo of her on her WhatsApp story.

"I took a screenshot and shared it in a Crime Watch group. That’s how people were able to help me trace her,” said Ndinda.

The information shared online led to the discovery that the teenager was in Unguja, Siaya County.

Thanks to community efforts and coordination with local authorities, Virginia was safely returned to Nairobi.

However, what should have been a joyous reunion has turned tense as Sharon allegedly sent her a message after Virginia’s return, warning her not to celebrate and accusing her of "starting trouble."

Sharon is also alleged to have made threats, and it's unclear what role she played in the girl’s disappearance.

The situation is further complicated by Virginia's refusal to return to school as the girl, who was in Grade 9, has reportedly said she wants to take a vocational course instead.

Ndinda, who is worried about her daughter's future, says she is unsure what steps to take next.

"I’m her mother. I want the best for her, but now I’m being threatened, and my daughter is refusing school. I don’t know what Sharon has told her," she added.

The distressed mother is calling for an investigation into the matter, especially concerning Sharon’s involvement and the nature of the threats.

In Kiambu County, a 14-year-old girl disappeared from her home in Ruthiruini on June 5 shortly after returning home from school.

June Murugi Kimani’s mother Elsie Njambi told that her daughter left at around 7 pm because she was warned against carrying juice to school.

The distraught mother requested Kenyans to help locate her daughter and report to the nearest police station or reach her through 072670873.
