Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that his children are Spanish after leading his country to beat Spain in the UEFA Nations League, UNL, final on Sunday.

According to the 40-year-old, his children will now respect him after seeing him lead Portugal to beat Spain in the Nations League final at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward spoke at his post-match interview after the game.

“My children are Spanish and they joke with me at home and to annoy me they say — ‘the trophy is for Spain’,” Ronaldo said as quoted by Madrid Zone.

“Now they saw their Dad win against Spain, so they will show more respect (laughs),” he added.

Ronaldo was on the scoresheet as the match ended in a 2-2 draw after 120 minutes.

Portugal won 5-3 via penalty shoot-out, thanks to Alvaro Morata who missed his penalty kick.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo had disclosed that he played in the Nations League final with an injury.
