Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has received with profound sorrow the news of the transition to glory of the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Plateau State Chapter, Very Rev. Fr. Polycarp Lubo, who died after a brief illness that followed his involvement in a recent accident.

In a condolence message, Mutfwang described Lubo’s death as “a monumental loss to his immediate family, the Plateau State CAN family, and indeed the entire state and nation.”

“Fr. Lubo laboured tirelessly in the Lord’s vineyard, nurturing his flock and directing countless souls toward the Kingdom of God. His steadfast commitment to the quest for enduring peace and unity on the Plateau remains a testimony that will speak for generations,” the governor said.

Recalling the priest’s jovial spirit and deep faith, Mutfwang echoed the words of Apostle Paul in Philippians 1:21, “For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

He noted that Fr. Lubo’s life exemplified Christ-like service, generosity, and courage, qualities that reverberated far beyond the pulpit.

The governor further paid tribute to the late cleric as “a respected voice of wisdom, a pillar of charity, and a symbol of hope, whose selfless efforts in community development, humanitarian outreach, and inter-faith dialogue strengthened our collective resolve for a peaceful Plateau.”

While acknowledging that words can scarcely capture the pain of his loss, Mutfwang urged the faithful to take solace in the assurance that for a believer, death is gain.

On behalf of his family, the government, and the good people of Plateau State, he conveyed deepest condolences to the Archbishop of Jos and the Catholic community; CAN, Plateau State Chapter; the Presbyterian of the Archdiocese; the parishioners of St. William’s Parish, Zawan, and the immediate family of the deceased.

Mutfwang prayed that Almighty God would grant them the fortitude to bear this grievous loss, and that Fr. Lubo’s enduring legacy of faith, love, and service would continue to inspire all.
