Musa-Olomu denies allegations, calls accusers mischief makers

Published 1 week ago2 minute read

The outgoing Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu, has exonerated himself of any wrongdoing from the allegations levelled against him while in office as the Medical Director of the institution.

The professor of surgery, while speaking against the backdrop of the allegations and account of his stewardship during the eight years of his tenure, disclosed that he has led the medical centre with an open heart, due process, and developmental strides, which have made the mischief-makers resolve to blackmail and peddle rumours.

He stated that before now, it was business as usual at the hospital blood bank department, where a lot of unscrupulous acts had been perpetuated, but with the measures being put in place, sanity has returned, and the illegal business of disgruntled elements has since stopped.

Musa-Olomu explained that the allegation being presented as new had already been adequately attended to and dismissed by a Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta years ago.

He noted that his eight-year tenure as Medical Director had been most productive, focused, and result-oriented, as widely acclaimed by numerous members of the public and staff despite several bottlenecks and diversionary attempts by mischief makers.

He further added that his administration paved the way for the establishment of a Medical University in Abeokuta and other developmental strides.

He explained that the development will further boost the region’s healthcare delivery and lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for transforming the health sector.

Musa-Olomu commended the President’s efforts towards boosting the healthcare sector by increasing medical school admissions and building healthcare infrastructure.

On Japa syndrome and the exodus of medical experts abroad, he urged the Federal Government to provide better incentives and improve the salaries of medical experts so as to discourage the Japa syndrome among medics in the country.

He further commended the government for increased admission into medical schools and building pharmacies and laboratories, adding that doctors who are working to perfect government efforts deserve better compensation.
