Prime Cabinet Secretary (CS) Musalia Mudavadi has arrived in Washington, United States, to hold talks on strengthening bilateral ties with the Western powerhouse.
In a communiqué on Tuesday, Mudavadi will hold talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday, focusing on strengthening the partnership between Kenya and the US across various areas, including security, trade, and investment.
"H.E. Mudavadi will push for the expanding of economic ties, including the renewal of African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and attracting US investments to Kenya," read the statement in part.
PCS Mudavadi is also scheduled to have talks with the Chairman of the House on Foreign Affairs Committee, Brian Mast, hold a meeting with the International Development Finance Corporation (IDFC) and have a business roundtable with U.S investors at the US Chamber of Commerce.
Mudavadi's invitation by the US government will be the first high-level engagement between Nairobi and Washington DC since President Donald Trump was reelected.
It also follows President William Ruto's state visit in May 2024, making it the first trip of its kind by an African leader to the US since 2018.
