Mpox cases in Ghana increases with a total number of 117
The number of Mpox cases in Ghana continues to increase, with a total number of reported cases hitting One Hundred and seventeen (117).
According to a report by 3news.com on June 23, 2025, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) sought to allay the fears of the public, assuring that they are working diligently to contain the outbreak.
"There's no cause for alarm. There are no deaths recorded yet nor any patients on admission," Health authorities said.
As of June 20, 2025, ten new Mpox cases had been confirmed, contributing to the overall count, but fortunately, there haven’t been any recorded deaths.
The GHS also said that no patients are currently hospitalised.
According to the GHS, the government has implemented various measures, including enhanced surveillance, contact tracing, and public education campaigns to curb further spread of the disease.
Health authorities have urged the public to stay vigilant as surveillance efforts are intensified across the country.
Citizens are encouraged to report any symptoms of rash to the nearest health facility, as early detection is crucial in managing the outbreak.
In its situational report, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) noted that contact tracing is ongoing and stressed the importance of remaining alert.
The public has been advised to seek early care if they notice any unusual rashes, flu symptoms, swollen lymph nodes, or fever.
As a personal preventive measure, the public is encouraged to avoid close contact with others.
Individuals are encouraged to maintain good hand hygiene as the situation evolves.
