Part of a multi-year series.
This will mark the second consecutive year the Tigers face off against the Bison to start their season. Last year, Missouri hosted Howard at Mizzou Arena in the home opener on November 8, earning a 77-62 win.
Notable Mizzou returners Mark Mitchell and Anthony Robinson II both scored in double figures during the contest.
Head coach Dennis Gates enters his fourth season aiming to build on Mizzou’s momentum. The Tigers returned to the NCAA Tournament last year as a No. 6 seed and recorded 10 SEC wins for just the fourth time in program history.
Howard, an HBCU, is led by head coach Kenneth Blakeney. The Bison finished the 2024-25 season with a 12-20 record, including a 7-7 mark in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play.
In an interesting connection, former Washington Post sportswriter and Missouri School of Journalism graduate Tramel Raggs is now on the Howard coaching staff as an assistant, per the Columbia Daily Tribune.
Mizzou is set to release the remainder of their non-conference and SEC schedule at a later date. The Tigers will look to carry last year’s momentum into 2025, starting with a road win in this year's season opener.
