Miley Cyrus’s new musical era is off to something of a rocky start. Her upcoming album, Something Beautiful, which is set to drop later this month, has already sent off multiple songs into the world, but none have become the breakout smash she was hoping for – the kind that fueled her last full-length.

As “More to Lose,” the singer’s latest release, arrives on the charts in the U.K., it appears to be having an adverse effect on its predecessor. At the same time, the tune seems to be helping what has turned out to be the most successful tune in the Grammy winner’s arsenal.

“Flowers” has come to define Cyrus’s music career. The track hit No. 1 on charts globally years ago when she was preparing to introduce her album Endless Summer Vacation, and it has remained hugely popular ever since.

This week in the U.K., it ascends on more than one ranking. Even after years as a bestseller, “Flowers” climbs on both the Official Singles Downloads and Official Singles Sales charts, settling at Nos. 81 and 85, respectively. The tune, which earned Cyrus her first two Grammys, has now spent at least 110 weeks on both of those lists.

“Flowers” may be benefiting from the debut of “More to Lose,” the latest focus cut from Something Beautiful, as anything that reminds people of Cyrus and her music could lead them to the smash. That new tune opens at No. 91 on the Official Singles chart, the main list of the most consumed songs in the country. It also reaches both of the purchase-only rankings where “Flowers” is growing, starting at No. 39 on the downloads-only tally and landing just below the top 40 tier on the Official Singles Sales list, where it launches at No. 41.

While the just-released “More to Lose” appears to be pushing “Flowers” higher and higher, it may be hurting “End of the World,” the official lead single from the upcoming Cyrus full-length. This frame, that track appears on the same three charts where “More to Lose” debuts, but it’s on the downswing.

“End of the World” drops almost 20 spaces on the Official Singles chart, landing at No. 83. It also declines by just a few spots on the two sales lists — but it’s still present inside the top 40, just slightly ahead of “More to Lose.”
