Maya Hawke attended the opening night of Eurydice at Signature Theatre in New York City, and as expected, she gave us something to talk about.

Wearing a rust-hued dress, Maya opted for a narrative-driven approach, carrying a matching umbrella that turned out to be more than just a prop. This wasn’t about pulling a ‘matchy-matchy’ look—if that were the goal, she’d have carried the colour through to her shoes. This was Maya doing what Maya does best: staying true to her whimsical spirit and finding ways to inject theatre into fashion.
The umbrella was a nod to Sarah Ruhl’s interpretation of Eurydice, where the main character descends into the underworld via a rain-drenched elevator. Whether or not you picked up on that reference immediately, it added a clever touch of literary symbolism to an otherwise simple silhouette.
All that said… is anyone else wishing this entire moment had been green instead?
