'Masters of the Universe' Film Completes Production, Confirms Nicholas Galitzine

Production has officially wrapped on “Masters of the Universe,” the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of the iconic 1983 animated series. Nicholas Galitzine, who stars as both Adam and He-Man, announced the completion of filming on Instagram, expressing immense pride and honor in taking on such a significant role. He described it as the “role of a lifetime,” noting the dedication he poured into the performance and the quality of the movie created with the cast and crew.
The film boasts a star-studded ensemble cast alongside Galitzine. Camila Mendes is set to portray Teela, Alison Brie will appear as Evil-Lyn, and Jared Leto takes on the villainous role of Skeletor. Other notable cast members include Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms, Sam. C Wilson as Trap Jaw, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm/Fisto. This diverse cast aims to bring the classic characters to life for a new generation.
Helming the project is “Bumblebee” director Travis Knight, working from a script primarily penned by Chris Butler. Earlier drafts of the screenplay were contributed by David Callaham, and Aaron and Adam Nee. The film is a collaborative effort between Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films, with production duties handled by Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner, and Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch. The team has been working towards a scheduled release date of June 5, 2026.
Anticipation for Galitzine’s physical transformation into He-Man has been high, and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson recently offered a tantalizing tease during an interview with Variety. Jóhannesson revealed that he had been with Galitzine in London for fittings just before filming commenced. He commented on Galitzine’s impressive physique, stating, “We were in the gym, we didn’t wear much,” hinting at the intense preparation Galitzine underwent to embody the powerful hero.
