co-creators, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, premiered their Apple TV+ series at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival on Mar. 7, where they also appeared onstage to discuss the project as part of a Q&A after the screening. The duo were joined by several members of the star-studded cast, having worked with an impressive roster of talent on the satirical comedy. Renowned filmmaker Martin Scorsese wasn't in attendance despite having a cameo on the show, but Rogen did share some insight into what it was like to work with him.
According to Variety, Rogen revealed the rather surprising and certainly amusing note Scorsese gave him and Goldberg, and it's the last thing you would expect. The director, who is prone to profanity in his movies, told the pair that he feels their swearing is excessive. "You guys say f*** too much," he said, sharing his (perhaps, unsolicited) opinion with a slightly perplexed Rogen and Goldberg, who have collaborated on projects like Superbad, Neighbors, and The Boys. "And we were like, 'We say 'f***' too much?!'" Rogen recalled.

8 Martin Scorsese Movie Characters Who Swear the Most
The Oscar-winning director's films feature some pretty colorful personas. Here's a closer look the characters who swear the most.
Scorsese is not one to shy away from dropping expletives in his movies, which often find potty-mouthed characters in tricky situations that triple the number of curse words per minute. His R-rated crime epic The Wolf of Wall Street stirred up controversy for its use of profanity following its release in 2013, as it famously broke the world record for the most "F-bombs" in a movie, with more than 500 utterances of the word throughout the feature's almost three-hour runtime. Scorsese's other movies, such as Casino and Goodfellas, are not too far behind on the swearword scoreboard, either.

The Studio turns the spotlight on Rogen, who, according to the show's synopsis, plays Matt Remick, "the newly appointed head of embattled Continental Studios." Remick finds himself wrangling with "narcissistic artists and craven corporate overlords" as he lifts the lid on Hollywood's "meat grinder." During the recent Q&A, Rogen asserted that he and Goldberg set out to create an accurate portrayal of the modern film industry and "wanted to use people that you believe a studio would get excited about," so they enlisted Tinseltown's top talent to star in the 10-episode half-hour comedy.
They reached out to friends as well as people that they didn't know personally and were surprised to find how many big-name cameos they were able to secure. One guest star who stood out from the rest, both in the scene and behind the scenes, was Scorsese. The legendary filmmaker had a lot of opinions about the direction of The Studio, but Rogen was more than happy to take heed of the advice as he admitted that he and Goldberg couldn't believe that Scorsese had said "yes" to appearing in an episode of the series.
"I'd never met Martin Scorsese before. We couldn't believe he did it! But we worked hard to write roles we hoped were funny and that we hoped that people would respond to. All anyone wants is a good joke, that's what we really learned. It's very enticing to people to feel like they get to be funny. Even Charlize [Theron], we were like, 'It's one line. But it'll kill, we promise!'"
In addition to Scorsese, The Studio stars the likes of Catherine O'Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Olivia Wilde, Adam Scott, Anthony Mackie, Zoë Kravitz, Charlize Theron, Ron Howard, Bryan Cranston, Zac Efron, Paul Dano, Steve Buscemi, Johnny Knoxville, and Josh Hutcherson, all of whom will appear in the series as heightened versions of themselves. The series has debuted to glowing reviews ahead of its arrival on Apple TV+ on Mar. 26, which will release two episodes to begin with, followed by one episode every Wednesday.
