Alaba International Market traders in Lagos State have united in support of Muhibat Rufai, an aspirant for Ojo Local Government chairmanship under All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a display of solidarity, vendors and market associations gathered at Electronic Garage Market to endorse Rufai, praising her dedication to revitalising Ojo and tackling challenges faced by traders.

During the event, traders voiced their confidence in Rufai’s leadership and vision for the community. They commended her stance on issues, such as market regulation, sanitation, and infrastructure development—areas they believe will boost their business.

Chief Camillus Uzochukwuwara, president of Alaba Council of Sectional Heads and International Market Association, noted importance of electing leaders, who follow through on their promises. “Our community is committed to supporting the ruling party to foster meaningful development,” he affirmed, noting the community’s desire for improved infrastructure and effective governance.

Amajuoyi highlighted the dire state of local roads, which serve as critical arteries for traders and residents. “Our roads are in terrible condition, damaging goods, causing accidents, and injuring residents—leading to losses,” he lamented. He noted previous promises that went unfulfilled and hoped Rufai’s initiatives—asphalt repairs, upgraded drainage, and regular maintenance—will bring change.

Supporters, dressed in APC colors and waving banners, chanted slogans of unity and progress. Rufai, who attended the gathering, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support and reaffirmed her commitment to the community’s welfare.

“I am here to listen and represent your interests,” Rufai stated. “If entrusted with this position, I will prioritize creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive and address your concerns.”

As the election date nears, the enthusiasm among Alaba traders signals strong momentum for Rufai’s campaign. With the backing of this vital economic hub, her path to victory looks promising—her vision for progress and prosperity resonating with the community’s aspirations.
