Manchester United are interested in Almeria star Luis Suarez

Published 23 hours ago2 minute read

Manchester United are among the clubs interested in UD Almeria striker Luis Suarez, as per reports.

Over the last few months, it has been widely reported that Ruben Amorim is keen to reunite with his Sporting CP superstar Viktor Gyokeres.

The Swede is desperate to leave Sporting and the Lisbon outfit are open to parting ways with him this summer. They have also identified Suarez as his replacement.

According to A Bola, Sporting face competition from United, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Liverpool for the signature of the 27-year-old Colombian.

It is understood that Sporting are the only side to have made a move for Suarez at the moment.

The Portuguese newspaper claim “everything should be resolved once Viktor Gyokeres’ immediate future is defined.”

However, a disagreement over the Sweden international’s price-tag has led to a stalemate between Gyokeres and Sporting. The Lions are demanding around €80 million for the striker who scored more than 50 goals last season.

The situation has influenced the Portuguese giants’ pursuit of the Almeria star.

Further, Sporting consider the Spanish outfit’s asking price of €25m “too high”. The 27-year-old scored 27 goals in 41 La Liga 2 appearances last campaign.

Sporting need to act fast, or they risk missing out on Suarez, as Almeria’s demand is certainly not out of the reach of the Premier League clubs.

United, in particular, appear to be scrambling for a new striker, as Gyokeres is giving priority to Arsenal and Victor Osimhen’s wage demands are excessive.

Suarez might emerge as an appealing target for the Red Devils later in the window, as it would be naive to head into the season with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee as their only striker options.
