Man arrested for unlawful possession of weapons at Nsawam-Adoagyiri

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a man for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition in Nsawam-Adoagyiri, in the Eastern Region.

According to a press release from the Police Public Affairs Unit, the suspect — identified as Abdul Rauf Salami, a resident of Adoagyiri Zongo — was picked up on Thursday, May 23, 2025, at around 9:30 p.m. His arrest formed part of a major police operation targeting entry and exit points in Adoagyiri following recent disturbances in the area.

Police say they found two pump-action guns, 64 rounds of AA ammunition, a cutlass, a knife, and an ammunition vest in Salami’s possession.

The suspect is currently in custody and assisting with investigations. He is expected to appear in court soon.

Police have assured the public of their commitment to maintaining safety in the Adoagyiri township and encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
