The College of Lake County’s Director of Athletics, Bradley Unger has announced the hiring of longtime NCAA Division I assistant coach  as the new Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

Wuczynski brings nearly three decades of coaching experience at the Division I level to the Lancers, with a proven track record of developing talent, building winning cultures, and recruiting at a high level. He has held assistant coaching roles at respected programs including Boston College, Ohio University, TCU, UIC, Canisius, UNLV, FIU, and Loyola Chicago.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Coach Wuczynski to CLC,” said Unger, “His experience speaks for itself, but what truly sets him apart is his passion for helping student-athletes grow as players, students, and leaders. He’s the right person to elevate our program and take us to the next level.”

Wuczynski spent 13 years working alongside veteran head coach Jim Christian at TCU, Ohio,Boston College and Caninus, where he helped guide programs to postseason appearances and significant milestones. At Boston College, he played an instrumental role in recruiting NBA first-round draft pick Jerome Robinson and developing All-ACC players such as Ky Bowman and Steffon Mitchell.
His coaching resume includes leading teams to the NCAA Tournament, National Invitation Tournament (NIT), and deep conference tournament runs. During his time at Ohio University, the Bobcats won a MAC regular season title and reached the postseason in consecutive years, while ranking among the nation’s leaders in assists and efficiency.

A Chicago native and graduate of UNLV, Wuczynski also brings strong ties to the Midwest and Chicagoland basketball communities. At CLC, he will look to build a fast-paced, disciplined, and competitive program rooted in player development and team-first culture.

Coach Wuczynski said: “I’m extremely excited and thankful to President: Dr. Suddick, Athletic Director: Bradley Unger and the rest of the search committee for naming me the next head men’s basketball coach at the College of Lake County. My #1 goal here is to legitimize the men’s basketball Program and give serious opportunities to passionate High school student-athletes. Over the past 30 years of being a division 1 men’s basketball assistant coach, I’ve sat on the other side of this fence. I’ve seen and have felt the negative effect of what the transfer portal has done to high school recruiting all over the country. A huge part of why I took this job was to come back home and help “our” players reach and achieve their goals of being a D1 or D2 scholarship player. Being able to give “our” players an additional, legitimate opportunity to grow and develop on the court, while being able to affordably complete a full collegiate academic year was high on my list. I have huge plans of this program and can’t wait to change the perception and direction of the men’s basketball program here at lake county”
