Kayokem International Foundation has held its second  anniversary empowerment and distribution programme during which it empowered the less privileged with household items, sewing machines, cooking gas cylinder, electrical grinding machines, notebooks for school children, among others.

Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Mrs. Oluwakemi Sanusi,  shared her passion and the foundation’s commitment to driving empowerment for the less privileged.

She said the foundation is dedicated to supporting those with limited opportunities and means of livelihood.

“We especially focus on people who have learned a skill or trade and need support to establish themselves. We are also paying children school fees and giving raw food to the vulnerable,” she said.

Sanusi said the vision is to impact lives by empowering people and giving them the means to sustain a livelihood.

She noted that the foundation had sought the support of many companies in Ogun State for support, and was not getting the desired feedback.

“Only Beloxxi Industries at Agbara in Ogun State responded just a day before the programme. Besides, none has responded. We understand this is part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. We’re not forcing anyone; however, we believe it is their responsibility to give back to communities where they operate,” she said.

She said: “I started this foundation to help Nigerians. Since we began, we’ve touched lives, mostly from our resources. My family and I have made sacrifices to make this happen.”

Narrating her experiences, she said: “There was a time I was about to book a business class ticket to Nigeria. But when I saw the price, I told myself, “This is a six-hour journey. Why spend so much when people are suffering back home?” I booked economy class and used the rest to support people in Nigeria. Sometimes, I use my savings. But you know what? God has a way of rewarding people like us, and that’s something I’ve personally experienced”.

“With help from corporate organizations, private companies, and kind individuals, we can reach more people. Our program is not limited to Ogun State alone. Beneficiaries have come from Ondo, Lagos, and even northern parts of Nigeria,” she said.
