The blaze sparked off at Owl Metals, a recycling center on 1936 Rettman Ln, causing the building to partially collapse.
Sharon Thompson, a Dundalk resident, said she saw lots of smoke and flames coming from the recycling plant. "...we could feel the flames from her yard," she said.
Thompson lives near Owl Metals. After a neighbor alerted her of the fire, she had to think quickly.
"My first reaction was to get my dad out because he's on oxygen," Thompson explained.
An elderly man who lives in the area was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures, according to BCoFD.
"We considered evacuations but there's only been one person that's been transported," Fire Chief Joe Dixon said.
Several others who live near the fire were told to shelter in place.
Multiple fire rescue boats and Baltimore City Fire units responded to the scene as well.
All lanes have been closed in both directions on MD 157 between Bethlehem Blvd and Merritt Blvd, per the Maryland State Highway Administration (MDSHA).

Baltimore County Police Department also took to X to warn drivers to avoid Peninsula Expressway and the Stansbury Park areas of Dundalk as crews work to battle the fire.
Sharon Thompson told WJZ Reporter Kaicey Baylor that there have been previous fires at the plant. This was confirmed by Chief Dixon, who also said that there have been reported incidents there, but he did not state how many.
