Lagos to Host Airport Business Summit in July

The 2025 edition of the Airport Business Summit and Expo (ABSE) is scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, from July 15 to 17. This significant event will be held at the NIGAV Expo Centre, located within the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. As Nigeria's only dedicated airport business summit, ABSE is specifically designed to highlight the economic intricacies and opportunities within the air transport sector, focusing primarily from an airport-centric viewpoint. The summit serves as a crucial platform for a diverse range of stakeholders within the aviation industry.

Key participants expected at the summit include airlines, regulatory bodies, private investors, airport management personnel, and government officials. Their collective objective is to deliberate and formulate strategies that will foster a more sustainable and investment-friendly ecosystem for airports across Nigeria. The 2025 ABSE is organized through a collaborative effort with several key governmental and industry bodies, including the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Transport Commissioners’ Forum, and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

The central theme for this year's summit is ‘Investment Opportunities in Airport Public-Private Partnerships’. According to Mr. Fortune Idu, the convener of the ABSE, the particular focus for the 2025 gathering is to intensify discussions and explore avenues for attracting private capital into the Nigerian aviation sector. This move is significant, especially considering that the sector has historically been predominantly reliant on public funding. The summit aims to pave the way for increased private sector participation, ultimately enhancing the development and efficiency of airport infrastructure and services in the country.
