Kristen Doute, star of the Bravo reality TV shows Vanderpump Rules and The Valley, and her fiancé Luke Broderick welcomed a baby girl on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Via an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Doute shared more about the couple's journey to new parenthood, including the inspiration behind their baby name choice.

“She’s here, and we still can’t believe it," Doute confirmed in the interview. "And even though I haven’t slept or showered in two days, seeing our daughter and finally being able to hold her makes it all worth it. We’re completely overwhelmed with love and so grateful for her—our lives are already changed completely.”

Doute went on to reveal in the interview and in a June 13, 2025, Instagram post that they named their new daughter Kaia Lily Broderick.

The inspiration for the name comes from Hawaii, where Doute and Broderick got engaged in September of 2024.

“We knew we wanted our baby name to have something to do, or revolve around, water,” explained Doute. “Lillies are my favorite flower. They’re associated with new beginnings, beauty, and also the name Lily indicates a ‘gentle and compassionate nature, suggesting a kind and caring personality.'”

Here are more baby name details:

Lily

  • : Many high-profile people have been given the name, including English actor and model Lily James, American actor Lily Rabe, and actor Oliver Platt's daughter Lily Platt. Lily is also the name of Harry Potter's mother in the "Harry Potter" series.
  • : The name Lily first ranked in the SSA's list of top 1,000 names in 1900 at number 292. It has since fluctuated in the hundreds before landing in the top 20 in 2009. It peaked in 2011 when it was ranked number 15.

Doute (42) and Broderick (34) first announced they were pregnant via a November 2024 exclusive with People. Doute said at the time that after experiencing pregnancy loss, and thinking her age could be a factor in conceiving, they decided to try intrauterine insemination (IUI). Two weeks after the procedure, they got the news they were expecting.

“I was relieved, overwhelmed, happy, excited and nervous," Doute told Us Weekly. "The second I told Luke, he wasn’t surprised, but was SO happy that IUI worked the first time (we were prepared that it may not). He was joyful and beyond excited, to say the least!”
