Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power interruption in select areas of Nairobi and Nandi counties on Monday, May 26, 2025.

This is part of its ongoing maintenance programme aimed at improving service reliability and network efficiency across various parts of the country.

In a public notice shared via its official customer support handles, Kenya Power advised residents and businesses in the affected areas to prepare for the day-long outages as scheduled.

Kenya Power said, "hello. Please be advised, the following areas will be on planned maintenance tomorrow 26.05.2025."

Power supply in these rural areas will be interrupted between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

The affected neighborhoods include, Kamuyu PCEA, Kamuyu Dispensary, Kariumba, Githurini, Giati, Kihatha, Kinunga, Gachuiro, Ihwa, Sunset, Chania & adjacent customers.

The utility company conducts these regular maintenance exercises to enhance system stability, reduce outages due to faults, and meet growing electricity demand in a safe and reliable manner.

In other news, the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) aims to connect between 480,000 and 600,000 households to electricity by the end of 2025.

The exercise will take place under the KSh 54 billion Acceleration and Last Mile Connectivity Programmes, targeting to raise national access from 77% to 83%.

Energy PS Alex Wachira confirmed that the plan will focus on 14 under-connected counties, with the Mt Kenya region already receiving substantial funding.

Connections will be offered free of charge, and Kenyans are warned against fraudsters demanding payments.

Applications can be made online through the KPLC website or at KPLC offices, with requirements including ID or company registration documents, PIN certificate, and property location details. The government sees this initiative as vital for economic growth, job creation, and achieving universal access by 2030.
