Published 8 hours ago3 minute read

Over a decade after the demise of her twin sister, Taiwo, Kehinde Oshadipe, the surviving member of the musical group Oshadipe Twins, has dusted off her act and is set to relaunch her career.

Taiwo and Kehinde were a popular Nigerian musical duo known for their performances of contemporary, inspirational, and gospel music.

They shot into the limelight with the song, ‘Dide Olorun Mi’.

Taiwo Oshadipe passed away on 1 October 2014, after a brief illness.

She had been hospitalised at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and later at a private hospital before her death.

Sadly, three years before Taiwo’s demise, the twins lost their elder brother on the day of their album launch.

Announcing her return on her Instagram page, Kehinde, who now goes by Kenny Twin Soul, said that her name change is more than a reintroduction; it is a rebirth.

According to her, the name Oshadipe Twins carries a lot of love, memories, music, and an unbreakable bond with her twin sister, whom she describes as her reflection, and best friend.

“After her passing, a part of me went quiet. I stepped away from the spotlight, the stage, and the sound because my heart needed time to breathe, break, heal, and remember who I am outside of us.

“But even in grief, I heard whispers from my soul, from the music from her. Whispers that said, you’re still here. You still have a voice. You still have a gift,” she said.

Kenny, who released her first single, ‘Mama’, under her new identity in April, stated that she is embarking on this new phase with tears, courage, and a new fire in her spirit; not as half of something lost, but as all of something evolving.

“My new name is Kenny Twin Soul. It is not about forgetting. It is about becoming. It carries my story. It carries hers. It honours the twinship, but also embraces the woman, the mother, the artiste, and the soul I am now. I am here to create, connect, and inspire, not despite my journey, but because of it.

“Thank you for loving me through the silence. Thank you for waiting. Thank you for still seeing me. This is my next chapter, and I hope you work with me. My name is Kenny

Twin Soul, and I am just getting started. Thank you,” she added.

The Oshadipe Twins, Taiwo and Kehinde, were identical twin sisters and popular gospel musicians.

They were known for their music and close bond, even sharing a passion for the same men, though they would defer to each other.

The twins were English Language and Literature graduates from the University of Lagos.

According to PulseNG, Kehinde and Taiwo, who are from Ondo State, got married in 2014 to twins as well.

The late Taiwo is survived by her husband and son.
