Kenneth Omeruo Advocates for Osimhen to Join Chelsea Over Arsenal

Victor Osimhen is set to leave Napoli permanently this summer and will not be extending his stay at Galatasaray beyond his current season-long loan spell. The Nigerian striker, who has garnered interest from clubs in the Premier League, Italian Serie A, and the Saudi Pro League, will return to Napoli to evaluate his options for the upcoming season, with reports indicating a strong preference for a move to England's top flight.

Amidst the transfer speculation, Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has offered his advice to Osimhen, strongly recommending a move to Chelsea. Omeruo, a former Chelsea player, believes the West London club would provide Osimhen with a better opportunity to win trophies compared to other interested clubs like Arsenal. "Of course, Chelsea," Omeruo stated, adding, "Arsenal needs him, but I want him to win trophies. Right now, he’s the best striker in the world for me. I want to see Victor in the Premier League, no doubt. I want to see him there. I want him to conquer the league."

Omeruo also touched upon Osimhen's experience with Galatasaray fans, recalling a conversation where he highlighted the passionate support in Turkey. "When he was about to go to Galatasaray, we spoke, I told him, they’ll kill you with love," Omeruo said, drawing from his own experiences playing for Turkish clubs Kasimpasa and Alanyaspor. "In Turkey, the fans make you appreciate, they make you love your job. It’s not just about the club you’re playing. As long as you’re a football player, you’re a star for them."

However, despite the affection from Galatasaray supporters, it appears insufficient to keep Osimhen at the Turkish club. Moreover, Omeruo's desire to see him join a top Premier League side is facing challenges. Manchester United are reportedly out of contention for Osimhen's signature due to missing out on UEFA Champions League qualification and their current financial constraints.

London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea, previously keen on the Super Eagles forward, have also reportedly cooled their interest, primarily due to the substantial financial commitment involved in the transfer. According to The Athletic, Chelsea has shifted their focus towards Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap, especially after securing Champions League football. Arsenal, on the other hand, are said to be prioritizing targets such as Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon and Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, with the latter reportedly having a £92 million price tag.

Adding another perspective, Turkish pundit Sinan Engin warned Osimhen that he might not find the same level of adoration from fans elsewhere as he experienced at Galatasaray, suggesting he would miss them. Engin also acknowledged the difficulty in faulting Osimhen if he were to accept a reported €45 million salary offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, a sum significantly higher than what Galatasaray could offer.

It is also worth noting that Osimhen was reportedly very close to signing for Chelsea last summer before his eventual loan move to Galatasaray, adding another layer to the ongoing transfer saga and his links with the Premier League club.
