Kano: We've no axe to grind with Blueprint Newspapers - Commissioner

Published 2 weeks ago2 minute read

Kano state Commissioner of Information, Malam Ibrahim Waiya, Tuesday, described  Newspapers as a formidable medium of mass communication, which has stood tall  among its peers.

Waiya said as far as the business of journalism was concerned, the Kano state government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has no axe to grind with the Blueprint Newspapers as it anchors its  activities on the premise of fairness, objectivity, responsive and responsible journalism.

Speaking to a special delegation of Blueprint staff headed by the general manager, Business and Strategy, Malam Aminu Ado, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Kano, Waiya said the paper has had no history of blackmail in the conduct of its professional business at the time when  some  papers found solace in resorting to negative media spin to satisfy their ego.

He pointed out that all that the business of journalism entails is service to humanity and the need to accommodate all dissenting opinions on the basis of fairness and the spirit of camaraderie, affirming that the Blueprint media had carved a niche for itself in that direction.

He, therefore, stated that the Kano state government was ever ready to work in tandem with the  Newspapers for the purpose of achieving mutual objectives on the premise of reciprocity, positing that putting a square peg in a square hole is what is most needed in keeping  the relationship fruitful and formidable.

Speaking earlier, the head of the Blueprint delegation, Malam Aminu Ado told the commissioner that he was in his office to consolidate the existing cordial relationship between the Kano state government and the Blueprint family for the two entities to have a sense of belonging.

He said the attitude of engaging in personal vendetta to achieve primordial objectives was never part of  editorial policy, stressing that no responsive and responsible news medium would love to tread the path of dishonesty.
