Kano governor directs new CoS, aides to declare assets

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has inaugurated the newly appointed political aides, including the Chief of Staff and Special Advisers, after taking the oath of allegiance. 

  Besides, the governor directed the Secretary of the State Government to issue the appointees with code of conduct forms to enter their assets before assuming duties. 

  The new appointees include the Chief of Staff (COS), Dr Sulaiman Wali Sani; The Special Adviser on Agriculture, Prof. Abba Garba Gaya; the Special Adviser on General Agricultural Input, Dr Tukur Dayyabu Minjibir; and the Special Adviser on Digital Economy, Yusuf Ibrahim Sharada, among others.  

  Addressing the aides after the oath conducted by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Ibrahim Dederi, the governor reminded the aides of the constitutional requirement of the code of conduct and legal implications against default. 

  Yusuf disclosed that the selection of the new CoS and 12 others was based on merit, urging them to prepare to serve with commitment, dedication and sincerity of purpose. 

MEANWHILE, at least seven local councils in Kano are prone to devastating flooding amid a high risk of emergency situations.  The impending emergency threat follows a Wednesday flood alert issued by the Federal Government, placing Kano among Nigerian states at high risk.  

  According to the statement, Kano would witness heavy downpour between July 16 and July 20, 2025, placing seven communities at risk. According to the detailed forecast, several local councils in Kano State may experience intense rainfall that could trigger flooding incidents. The identified high-risk areas include Kunchi, Kano city, Gezawa, Wudil, Bebeji, Sumaila, and Tudun Wada.
