Joho Slams Ruto Critics: "They Failed in Government, What Can They Offer Now?" - Nairobi Wire
Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, Hassan Joho, has taken aim at opposition leaders who continue to criticize President William Ruto’s administration, accusing them of hypocrisy and failed leadership.
Speaking during an economic empowerment event in Taita Taveta County on Thursday, Joho questioned the credibility of the critics, noting that many of them once held powerful government positions but did little to improve the lives of Kenyans.
“Every one of them whether deputy president, cabinet secretary, or attorney general has been in government before,” Joho said. “If they didn’t deliver then, what new solutions can they possibly offer now?”
He praised President Ruto’s record in development by pointing to tangible projects already implemented within his time in office. Joho urged Kenyans to rally behind the president, stating that Ruto deserved a free mandate to deliver his development agenda.
CS Joho reaffirmed his unwavering support for President William Ruto and called on coastal communities to flock behind the Head of State as he readies to vie for a second term in office.
“As Coast leaders, we are fully behind President Ruto,” Joho declared. “Let’s support him all the way to 2027 and help him secure his second term. We from the Coast also aspire to lead this country one day—but that opportunity will only come if we allow Ruto to complete his 10 years first.”
Joho also restated his full commitment to the Broad-Based Government, emphasizing that he is actively involved in national governance and working closely with fellow Coast leaders to push forward the region’s development agenda.
“We have no issue with the President. I’m fully part of the government, right at the center,” he said. “Alongside leaders like CS Salim Mvurya and Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, we are collaborating to deliver progress for the Coastal people.”
Joho criticized the opposition for stirring unnecessary tension and urged them to give the government space to fulfill its mandate.
