Jeremy Pargo is expanding his resume to writing, producing, and starring in “The Final Play” movie. The romantic comedy was created by his own production company, Pargo Productions, and can be watched on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.
The film follows a former pro basketball player who embarks on a heartfelt and comedic journey to find love and fulfillment, discovering that winning in the game of life means facing his fears and making his ultimate final play. It’s directed by Tailiah Breon and stars Vanessa D. Fant, Aaron Goldenberg, and Brendan Goshay alongside Pargo.
The run time is 1 hour and 48 minutes. IMDb gives it a 6.2 rating. Definitely worth a watch.
This isn’t the first time a Zag has given acting a shot recently. New Orleans Pelicans forward Kelly Olynyk was just recently in Netflix’s “Running Point” starring Kate Hudson, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, and Brenda Song. He plays “Portland big man” in the TV series. Through 11 episodes, it follows Isla Gordon after being appointed President of the LA Waves basketball team, a family business, when her brother enters rehab. Basically, very loosely based on Jeannie Buss and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Back to Pargo, the former Zag really does it all as he’s still hooping professionally at 39 years old overseas and in Ice Cube’s Big3 during the summer. Entering his sixth season in the 3-on-3 league, he’s the captain of the Detroit Amps alongside co-captains Darnell Jackson and Joe Johnson. The rest of the roster consists of Shakur Juiston and Ray Nixon, while George “The Iceman” Gervin coaches.
Last season, Pargo averaged 18.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game with the Triplets. He shattered the Big 3’s single-season four-point record with 7 from way downtown.
The 2008 West Coast Conference Player of the Year played with the Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Golden State Warriors. In 86 NBA games, Pargo averaged 4.8 points, 1.8 assists, and 1.0 rebounds per game.
Internationally, he’s competed in Israel, Russia, China, Italy, Lebanon, Spain, and Iceland. Pargo is a four-time Israeli League champion, named to the 2011 All-EuroLeague Second Team, a 2011 Russian League champion, a 2014 VTB League champion, and the 2016 Chinese Basketball Association assists leader.
