JBM to offer electric buses in European markets

Published 11 hours ago3 minute read

JBM EV celebrated its market entry in Europe at the trade fair in Hamburg and also publicised its European headquarters in Frankfurt am Main. The Indian bus manufacturer’s European business will be managed by Daniel Frade. In addition, JBM EV has brought the German leasing specialist Kazenmaier on board for its expansion.

JBM’s first model for the European markets is the all-electric Ecolife city bus. However, apart from a range of “over 400 kilometres” and a high DC charging capacity, no key technical data on the electrically powered bus has yet been made public. Compared to the model presented at Busworld 2023, however, the vehicle presented in Hamburg is expected to comply with VDV and European standards. JBM will also be spotlighting its electric bus ecosystem, ‘JBM E-Verse’ at the trade fair in order to simplify the operation of electric buses for customers.

In view of its ambitions, the Indian manufacturer has also set up its own European headquarters in Frankfurt am Main. Sales, marketing, after-sales, operations and partnerships in the entire region are to be coordinated from there. For Germany, JBM EV is also publicising a partnership with Kazenmaier and is initially planning to deploy “over 100 electric buses.” The agreement covers vehicle delivery as well as the associated infrastructure and services. Kazenmaier will then take over the leasing process in the German market, with the aim of giving cities and transport companies easy access to electric bus fleets.

Max Nastold, CEO of Kazenmaier Leasing, commented: “As a leasing company with a strong focus on financing sustainable assets, we have found a great partner in JBM Electric Vehicles to help us build the ecosystem for the future of mobility. Our vision is to finance the mobility of tomorrow – and with JBM EV we have found the right partner for this mission. Together, we are driving sustainable mobility in local public transport. The key lies in the turnkey solution that combines bus, charging infrastructure and leasing. JBM’s technology and our leasing expertise provide easy access to zero-emission bus solutions.”

Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman of the JBM Group, added: “Our mission is to decarbonize public transport by creating new and sustainable global benchmarks. At JBM EV, we believe that the future of green mobility lies in creating vehicles that seamlessly blend innovation, sustainability and user-centric design. Our electric mobility solutions are not just about reducing carbon footprints—they are about elevating the quality of life for individuals and communities by making transportation smarter, safer, and more accessible.”

JBM Electric Vehicles is part of the international JBM Group. The company claims to already have over 11,000 electric buses in operation or on its order books worldwide. The company operates its own production facility for electric buses in India with a production capacity of 20,000 units per year.
