A 73-year-old Israeli national, Avi Warshaviak, died on Saturday after reportedly falling ill at the Corinthia Villa Hotel in the Garki area of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

According to a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred at around 9:51 a.m. while Warshaviak was lodging at the hotel with his wife.

Sources said the man developed sudden health complications and was immediately rushed to Asokoro General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead shortly after arrival.

The hotel’s Chief Security Officer, Okorie Emmanuel, reported the incident to the Garki Divisional Police Headquarters at approximately 11:23 a.m.

Police officers later visited both the hotel and the hospital, took relevant records, and transferred the deceased’s body to the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

Authorities have begun contacting the Israeli Embassy in Nigeria to initiate necessary consular procedures.
