Israel Conducts Air Strikes in Iran Targeting Military Assets

Published 1 day ago2 minute read

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Sunday that its fighter jets had conducted a series of significant airstrikes within Iran, targeting various military assets. Early Sunday morning, two warplanes at Dezful Airport in western Iran were struck. These strikes followed earlier operations on the same morning which neutralized eight missile launchers, with six specifically identified as being poised to fire at Israeli territory.

These actions were part of a larger offensive that began on Saturday evening, when approximately 20 Israeli fighter jets carried out strikes against dozens of military targets across Iran. Among the critical sites hit were a military facility containing components for explosive production, several weapons storage and manufacturing facilities, and air defense systems. Additionally, the IDF reported targeting military infrastructure at Isfahan Airport, a strategic move aimed at preventing the Iranian air force from utilizing the site for its operations.

In response to these reported Israeli attacks, Iran confirmed on Sunday that explosions had occurred in two distinct regions. The semi-official Fars news agency reported blasts near the southern city of Bushehr, which is home to a nuclear power plant, and in the central province of Yazd. These explosions were directly attributed to the Israeli actions, indicating a significant escalation in tensions between the two nations.
