Is McDonald's Releasing A Birthday Cake McFlurry? Here's What We Know

Published 3 weeks ago3 minute read

McDonald's has dropped some seriously sweet treats over the years, from their classic apple pie to newer offerings like the Shamrock Shake. And just when I think they can't surprise us anymore, they do it again. According to the streets (aka Instagram, lol), the Birthday Cake McFlurry might be the next big thing.

Instagram creator Mouth Attack shared the news with a post saying, “McDonald’s Canada has launched a brand-new, limited-time treat: the Birthday Cake McFlurry.”

The Birthday Cake McFlurry is “a blend of creamy vanilla soft serve with confetti cookie dough pieces and a swirl of birthday cake-flavored syrup, creating a nostalgic, party-in-a-cup experience.”

This newest offering is part of the 30th anniversary celebration of the McFlurry. According to the post, the McFlurry was “originally created in 1995 in Bathurst, New Brunswick,” and in celebration of its 30th birthday, it’s getting its own cake flavor.

Sadly, it’s only available in Canada right now, and McDonald’s hasn’t said if it’ll hit U.S. stores. But before you get too bummed, remember McDonald's has a history of bringing Canadian menu items to the U.S. So, there’s a pretty good chance we’ll see the Birthday Cake McFlurry on our menu soon. When? Not sure yet, but keep the hope alive!

Best believe people are already hyped about it. One user wrote, “Stop because I hate fast food and can’t have dairy, but at this point y’all just might have me in the palm of your hands 😭.” Another said, “Gotta go to Canada.” Same, I’m booking my ticket right now.

But just a quick reminder, McDonald's—when you finally bring it to the States (because I know you will—I have faith in you), just make sure to keep the ice cream machines up and ready. Fans are anxious to try this treat, but many say the ice cream machines are never working. “Let me know when y’all can get your hands on one 😂😂,” one user joked. Another wrote, “30th anniversary of the McFlurry machines never working.”

So, while we’re all waiting for McDonald’s to bring the Birthday Cake McFlurry to the U.S., let’s just hope the ice cream machines are actually working when it happens. Until then, we’ll be living vicariously through our Canadian friends and keeping our fingers crossed for a launch here.
