Iran Confirms Deaths of Eight Senior Commanders in Israeli Strikes
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) of Iran officially confirmed on June 15 the deaths of eight additional senior commanders from its aerospace division following Israeli airstrikes targeting the capital Tehran on Friday. This confirmation, released via the IRGC's official news outlet Sepah News, expressed condolences for the "martyrdom" of these key figures. The list of the newly identified fallen commanders includes Mahmoud Bagheri, Davoud Sheikhian, Mohammad-Bagher Taherpour, Mansour Safarpour, Masoud Tayyeb, Khosrow Hassani, Javad Jorsara, and Mohammad Aghajafari.
These fatalities add to an already significant toll from the Israeli aggression. Early on Friday, Israel launched extensive airstrikes against Tehran and various other Iranian cities. These coordinated attacks not only targeted nuclear facilities but also resulted in the assassination of several of Iran's top military commanders, alongside nuclear scientists and civilians. Among those previously reported assassinated in the Tehran strikes were Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC's Chief Commander Hossein Salami, Commander of Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters Gholam-Ali Rashid, and Commander of the IRGC's Aerospace Division Amir Ali Hajizadeh.
The aggression did not cease after Friday. Israeli forces continued their assault on different parts of Iran throughout Saturday and Sunday, escalating tensions further. In a direct and immediate response to these attacks, Iran launched multiple waves of missile attacks against targets within Israel on Friday and Saturday nights. These retaliatory strikes reportedly inflicted casualties and significant material damages. The series of events underscores a grave escalation in hostilities between the two nations, with both sides reporting substantial losses and engaging in reciprocal military actions.
