Investigation into Oral report must not target only NPP members - Manasseh - Adomonline.com

Investigative journalist Manasseh Awuni Azure has urged the Mahama-led administration not to target political opponents in the probe into the report by the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team.

According to him, President Mahama must seek to ensure an all-inclusive investigation with a focus on members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as well.

This, he noted, will clear doubts about and ensure the success of the committee’s work.

“The oral prosecution must not target only NPP members because there are some new appointees who may already be engaged in frivolous deals that will cost the taxpayers money. So for us to succeed, we should not seek to shield NDC members,” he cautioned.

Mr. Azure made the clarion call on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem after the committee, led by North Tongu MP and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, presented its report.

The committee, which was tasked with investigating alleged corruption and verifying claims of embezzled state resources, submitted a report with complaints on suspected corruption activities on Monday, February 10, 2025.

After of work, Mr. Ablakwa revealed that they received complaints through a toll-free call and via emails.

Meanwhile, President John Mahama has directed the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, to immediately investigate the report to facilitate the prosecution of persons found culpable.
