Indiana Men's Basketball Lands Visit from 7-Foot-3 Italian Prospect Luigi Suigo

Class of 2026 center Luigi Suigo is visiting Indiana next week, per a report from Joe Tipton of On3.

The foreign big man has offers and visits with a slew of high-majors, including fellow Big Ten schools Illinois and Purdue. Tipton reported that he will be visiting Matt Painter and company earlier in the week before heading down the road to Bloomington for an official.

There’s a lot to like about this offer from the jump, as Indiana’s frontcourt remains something of a mystery this coming season and going forward. The tallest player on the current roster is Reed Bailey at 6’10”, but he doesn’t necessarily have the bulk to play in the paint.

That is not the case with Suigo, who last weighed in at 240 lbs, per 247 sports. As expected, he is strong as a rebounder and rim protector.

Per recent scouting reports though, Suigo has also started to develop as a perimeter shooter and passer. In the final game of the Adidas Next Gen Euros tournament, he finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists.

In other words, while DeVries is certainly interested in pursuing height inside, he is not going to do so at the expense of skill. He wants guys that can contribute all over the floor on the offensive side of the ball, from the one to five spots.

While Indiana hasn’t had strong international connections of late, the Hoosiers may have more playing time to offer inside next season, and should be competitive in the NIL realm.

Stay tuned for what should be a heated recruitment for an elite big.
