IMD Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall Batters Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu - Check Forecast News24 -

Published 1 day ago2 minute read

Rain clouds continue to hover over southern India, bringing heavy rainfall to Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The monsoon has officially covered the entire country, but Delhi remains stubbornly dry with occasional rains. Delhiites are still waiting for a proper downpour, while rising humidity and stagnant skies add to their discomfort. Meanwhile, showers, thunderstorms, and lightning are also expected over coastal Karnataka, Yanam, Telangana, and Lakshadweep.

Incessant rainfall has led to severe waterlogging and flooding in several parts of the country. Residents are advised to avoid stepping out unless necessary and to plan their travel accordingly. Alerts have been issued across multiple regions, including Madhya Pradesh (July 21–23), Odisha and Chhattisgarh (July 22–24), Bihar (July 20–22), and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim (until July 21). Amid these, the weather body has further warned of extreme conditions in the coming days.

Citizens are advised to prepare for potential delays and traffic disruptions due to torrential rains. Areas such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura are expected to experience continuous showers until July 22. Due to prevailing western disturbances, cyclonic circulations, and a trough, isolated heavy rainfall is also forecast in the following regions:

July 19, 2025

July 20 and 21

Until July 22

July 21

July 20 to 23

July 20 to 22
