Ice Age 6 Plot Will Be a 'Sentimental Journey,' Teases John Leguizamo
Ice Age franchise vet John Leguizamo has finally shared a new detail about the plot, after more than four months since the project was officially confirmed by Disney. Leguizamo is once again lending his voice to fan-favorite character Sid the ground sloth.
Besides Leguizamo, Ice Age 6 will feature the return of long-time franchise stars Ray Romano, Denis Leary, and Queen Latifah, as they reprise their respective roles as Manny the woolly mammoth, Sid the ground sloth, Diego the saber-tooth tiger, and Ellie the woolly mammoth.
In addition to the main cast, Shaun of the Dead’s Simon Pegg has also signed on to reprise his role as Buck the one-eyed weasel. The character was first introduced in 2016’s Collision Course, which he later played again in the Disney+ movie, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild.
At the moment, the creative team — including the director and writer — has yet to be revealed. It is a production of 20th Century Animation, with Lori Forte serving as the producer.
In a recent interview with Collider, Leguizamo opened up about what fans can expect from Ice Age 6, as he teased the plot of the upcoming movie. He confirmed that the next entry to the blockbuster animated franchise will feature a “sentimental” and “beautiful” storyline that families will get to enjoy.
“People have grown up with the whole series and it’s sort of a milestone in children’s lives,” Leguizamo said. “Now it’s like the grandparents are coming with the parents and grandchildren, and it’s a very sentimental journey for a lot of people — so I thought it would be a beautiful experience. The movie is really funny and cool. A lot of action, a lot of hilarity from Ray Romano, Denis Leary, and hopefully myself.”
