Popular Ghanaian internet sensation Killer Ntua has shared a deeply personal story about his life before fame, revealing that he is yet to receive his secondary school certificate due to unpaid school fees.
Speaking on The Delay Show with Deloris Frimpong Manso, the comic content creator opened up about the hardships he faced growing up, the challenges he encountered in school, and his eventual rise to social media stardom.
Killer Ntua, who hails from Asafo in Kumasi, recounted that he was born and raised in the bustling suburb with his parents and five siblings. According to him, his academic journey was anything but smooth.
“I schooled at Ahmadiyyah and stopped. I went to another school. I was brilliant, so I moved again, this time to Mankranso Secondary School, where I studied Visual Arts,” he said.
However, his time in senior high school was plagued by financial difficulties. His father, who worked as a manager at a sawmill, did his best to support the family, while his mother battled a long-term illness. These circumstances severely affected Ntua’s education.
“Sometimes, I ran away from school because of school fees. Whenever I got money, I paid half. And as a result, I was constantly driven out of class. I wasn’t serious with school,” he admitted.
Killer Ntua, also known as Asafo Powers, revealed that although he completed senior high school in 2012, he has been unable to retrieve his certificate due to the outstanding fees.
After SHS, he turned to vocational training, learning welding in Asafo. He worked as a welder for four years, all the while entertaining those around him with his natural sense of humour. It was during this period that friends and admirers began encouraging him to bring his comic talent to social media.
“When TikTok became a thing in Ghana, people advised me to start creating content. I’ve always loved movies and didn’t want to work under anyone. I wanted to do my own thing,” he shared.
That passion and independence have since paid off. Today, Killer Ntua is a household name on TikTok, known for his eccentric skits, humour, and vibrant personality.
