Albert was having lunch with his parents when he was arrested by six policemen and taken to Central Police Station, where he was killed.
His father, Meshack Opiyo, who had hoped to use his land's title deed to help secure his son's bail, arrived in Nairobi afterwards only to be told that his beloved son was no more.
After returning home, torrents of tears flowed from the elderly man's eyes, and there were also wails from other relatives who were holding him as they entered his house, where the young man had grown up. Those who could not fit into the house remained outside and wailed uncontrollably in the compound.
"In Luo we call it 'kelo yuak'. My uncle Meshack Ojuang is finally home to traditionally break the news to the kin here at home. Onge wach (no problem)," said Tiktoker @telwinter4.

"He didn’t come back with his son, but with the news that the boy who had left his home walking had been killed. He returned to his people to officially announce the death of his son, their kin," said Saddat.
"No one should subject any parent to such pain. Albert, may you never rest until justice is served," he added.

On Sunday, June 15, the police arrested three civilians who were reportedly hired to torture Albert Ojwang inside a cell at Central Police Station.
So far, the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU), together with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), have arrested six suspects in relation to the case.
IPOA has made an important step in getting a large part of the CCTV clip which captured events of the night the young man was killed.
