Ludhiana: Three friends, all 18-year-old students of Class XII met with a fatal accident on their way home after celebrating Holi on Friday. The boys were on the way to Bhamian from Tajpur Chowk on their bike when a speeding garbage-laden tipper truck hit them near a dairy on Tajpur Road. While two of the youngsters died on the spot, the third succumbed to injuries in hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Ankush Kumar, 18, of Mohalla Guru Nanak Estate, Sahabana Road, his friend Akashdeep, 18, and Sundaram, 18, of Amritsar. While Ankush Kumar and Akashdeep died on the spot, Sundaram succumbed to injuries in hospital. Sundaram had come to Ludhiana to celebrate Holi with Ankush and Akashdeep.
Onlookers said that the tipper truck driver escaped after the incident. Upon receiving information, division number 7 police reached the spot and lodged an FIR against the unidentified driver on the complaint of Ankush's father, Subodh Lal.

The complainant said that his son went to celebrate Holi with his friends in the morning. In the afternoon, he said that he received a call from someone who informed him that his son and his friends had met with an accident on Tajpur Road and died.
Investigating officer from division number 7 police station, ASI Prem Chand, said that an FIR was lodged under sections 125 (A) (act endangering life or personal safety of others and causing hurt), 125 (B) (act endangering life or personal safety of others and causing grievous hurt), 324 (2) (mischief causing loss or damage to property), 324 (4) (causing wrongful loss or damage to property), and 106 (1) (causing death by negligence) of BNS against the unidentified truck driver. Police are checking CCTV cameras installed near the spot.
