The High Court has upheld the removal of Cleophas Malala as the Secretary-General of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). Justice Bahati Mwamuye ruled that Malala’s ouster, formalized through a gazette notice on August 19, 2024, is valid. The court nullified the earlier Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) ruling that had temporarily reinstated him, effectively ending his legal challenge. Malala was replaced by Hassan Omar following a UDA National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
