Temperatures in Delhi and most of North India have reached a sweltering 43.3 C due to a severe heatwave. The IMD has issued a red alert, warning of potentially fatal conditions, due to the capital's horrifying heat index of 51.9 C. Millions of people are struggling to cope with the extreme heat, which is causing health issues, power disruptions, and water shortages.
As per the latest predictions, a light shower is expected to hit the northern region later this week. "Relief is expected to reach the city by the weekend," IMD said in its statement.
