HBO Max Releases 'Welcome to Derry' Trailer

HBO Max has released the teaser trailer for IT: Welcome to Derry, a new horror spin-off series based on the two IT movies from 2017 and 2019. The prequel series, set in the 1960s, leads up to the events of the first movie and explores the origins of Pennywise the Clown. Andy Muschietti, the director of the movies, developed the series with his sister, Barbara Muschietti. IT: Welcome to Derry features Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe, Rudy Mancuso, and Bill Skarsgård returning as Pennywise.

The series is set 27 years before The Loser Club's first encounter with Pennywise, delving into the origins of Pennywise and his reign of terror. The show is set in 1962, coinciding with Pennywise's awakening after the burning down of The Black Spot, an African-American catering nightclub. The series aims to explore the early 60s vibe, the disappearances of children, and introduce a new cast of protagonists.

IT: Welcome to Derry is a nine-episode Season 1 series from Andy Muschietti, who adapted the two IT movies from Stephen King’s horror novel. It’s set 27 years before the events of those films, showing Pennywise’s murder spree before hibernation. The series will touch on themes of friendship, loss, and the power of unified belief, while also focusing on the use of fear as a weapon. The baseline is 1962, but the series will also include jumps to the past.

Additionally, Osgood Perkins' upcoming movie Keeper is generating buzz with an unusual teaser released by Neon on YouTube. The teaser features Tatiana Maslany scribbling in a binder, inspiring curiosity. Perkins' previous film, The Monkey, was successful, and Keeper is expected to return to his creepier style. The synopsis on IMDb is vague: “A dark trip from Osgood Perkins.”

Directors Danny and Michael Philippou (Talk To Me) are releasing their new film, Bring Her Back. A new trailer showcasing the accolades it received from critics has been released. Total Film calls Bring Her Back “The Best Horror Movie of the Year,” and Fangoria says that “It Follows You Home.” The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 30th, 2025.

The Conjuring: Last Rites, the final entry starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as Lorraine and Ed Warren, is set to release in theaters on September 5. The film investigates the Smurl haunting, a case from 1986 involving alleged sexual assault by a demon. Michael Chaves directs from a screenplay by Ian Goldberg & Richard Naing and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.
