Gunmen have reportedly abducted two herders and a driver while returning from market in Izom, in Gurara LGA of Niger State, which borders Daku village in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.

A resident of Daku village, Danjuma Aliyu, said the incident happened on Tuesday around 6:37pm.

He said the herders were returning to Daku after selling their cows at Izom market when the gunmen emerged from the bush and shot at the tyres of their pickup van.

He said the driver was forced to stop after the gunmen deflated the tyres of the van and the kidnappers whisked two of the herders and the driver into the bush.

Aliyu said some vigilantes at the neighbouring Dada-Biri village, upon getting information, mobilised after the gunmen.

Our reporter learnt that the pickup van was later towed and parked at Dada -Biri village by the vigilantes.

The spokeswoman for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said no incident of such was reported in the FCT.
