Embakasi East’s Babu Owino and Kiharu’s Ndindi Nyoro have once again achieved high grades as Kenya’s best-performing Members of Parliament, thanks to wide-ranging public support for their service and contribution since they joined Parliament.

A recent Leeway Africa report has put the two MPs at the top of Kenya’s top 20 performing MPs, each attaining a high 88.9% rating. South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro followed in third place with a score of 83.7%, while Githunguri’s Gathoni Wamuchomba came in fourth at 77.1%. Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi rounded out the top five with a rating of 76.2%.

Other legislators in the top 10 include Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah (73.7%), Igembe South’s Paul Mwirigi (72.6%), and Lang’ata’s Felix Odiwour, popularly known as Jalang’o, who scored 70.8%. Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi (68.1%) and Kasarani’s Ronald Karauri (67.2%) completed the list.

Further down the list but still within the top twenty are Didmus Barasa, who scored 65.7%, Tom Kajwang’ at 65.1%, Benjamin Gathiru with 64.5%, and Oscar Sudi at 62.8%.

The list further comprises John Kiarie (60.1%), Anthony Kibagendi (59.0%), Francis Kuria Kimani (57.9%), and Peter Salasya (55.6%). Embakasi West’s George Aladwa and Mark Mwenje make up the list, both with 51.5%.

The results point to the thin, delicate line MPs must walk between serving Parliament and being seen, heard at the grassroots level. The rankings, most believe, reflect whether MPs are holding on well with their grassroots constituency and showing interest in building constituencies.

Leeway Africa’s review combined face-to-face interviews and online responses from registered voters. Its analysis focused on a range of key performance indicators, including infrastructure projects, legislative success, support for education, and MPs’ availability to the public.
