GRA to launch new tax initiative to boost tax compliance
Anthony Kwasi Sarpong is the Acting Commissioner-General of GRA
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has announced plans to launch a new initiative aimed at streamlining tax filing processes for micro and small businesses across the country.
According to the Acting Commissioner-General of GRA, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, the initiative will not only simplify tax compliance for small businesses but also promote a more inclusive tax environment.
Speaking to Joy Business on June 21, 2025, after a meeting with executives and selected members of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) in Accra, Sarpong emphasised the GRA's commitment to collaborative governance and taxpayer education.
He stated that the GRA will introduce a quarterly engagement platform with key stakeholders in the business community, recognising their crucial role in the authority’s revenue collection mandate.
“As tax administrators, we mobilise revenue for national development; therefore, we see businesses as core partners in delivering on our mandate,” he noted.
This strategic initiative aims to broaden the tax base, improve revenue mobilisation, and address existing gaps in Ghana’s domestic revenue collection system.
