Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, the lawmaker cited NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah’s recent demands as part of a “troubling pattern” following the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

“We should be alarmed—they first targeted the Chief Justice, and now the EC,” Awuah stated, referencing public remarks by Nketiah and NDC Deputy Mustapha Gbande. He warned such actions risk establishing a dangerous precedent where governments routinely replace key officials.

“The fundamental question is whose interests this serves,” Awuah asserted. “Will every administration install its own Electoral Commission and Chief Justice? This endangers our democracy.” His intervention comes amid heightened political tensions, with the opposition NPP previously raising similar concerns during the Chief Justice’s suspension proceedings.
